Not so long ago, my fiancé Sherri and I were shopping for videographers, just like you. Being in the business myself, I knew exactly what I wanted. We hired a friend of a friend, an older gentleman who said he'd been in the wedding video business for decades. I visited his garage studio and checked out his equipment. It was all top-notch. I looked at some projects(not weddings) he'd edited and they looked good. He and his crew of two showed up at our wedding with brand-new digital camcorders and acted very professionally. I rested easy and never worried about his competence until I saw the finished video.

It was awful! The shots were shaky and made us seasick. Our cake cutting was too dark to be able to see who was doing what. Our wedding vows were ruined by wind noise. The editing was weird, interrupted by bad imitations of Fox's movie intro with searchlights and golden lions. Not to mention he misspelled my wife's name!

Unfortunately, many "professional" wedding videographers have no broadcast training or experience. Video production equipment has become much cheaper in the last few years, so it's a lot easier to get into the business than it used to be.

I've worked on national television shows since 1994, learning what I know from real professionals, in addition to earning a Bachelor's degree in TV/Film. I shoot and edit every wedding personally to make sure it's done right. Producing videos is my passion, and nothing beats capturing the live, romantic drama of a wedding. Every one is different and no Hollywood actor can imitate the real emotions that will be played out before the cameras on your wedding day.
